The pictures above, of the same bird, were taken atĀ Connah’s Quay Nature Reserve, managed by theĀ Deeside Naturalists’ Society. For a small, annual fee and key deposit, you can join the society and let yourself in. I’ve spent many long and happy days there.

Below is another of my ‘birdscape’ pictures, where the habitat is as much the subject as the bird. Taken on the beach near Thurstaston. Curlews are very wary birds. Even at this distance he seems to have an eye on me.
