Dipper

These pictures of a Dipper were taken at Lathkill Dale Nature Reserve. I had to work quite hard on these images in Photoshop, as I felt they were a bit flat and drab. Lathkill Dale is a steep-sided valley, making the floor quite dark. The bright white breast of the Dipper against the dark surroundings made it difficult to get the exposure right. And I didn’t get many chances.

It was a memorable day, mainly because I found a camera bag with several Nikon lenses and accessories on the riverbank. I couldn’t find the owner, so I took it home and rang the police station closest to the Dale. The policeman who answered the phone was a bit shocked. The owner has been into the station to report the loss and the policemen had clearly thought he had no chance. The owner lived on the Wirral, and was happy to drive to my house to pick the kit up. He was very grateful.
