I was there on this day from sunrise to sunset. I set up my low, home-made hide and laid on my belly with my ground-pod to watch over the estuary.

I thought I was going to lose the hide at one point. Before I settled down, I wasn’t aware of the Dee Estuary bore. At some point in the afternoon, I glanced left to see this wall of water rushing towards me. I was lying down, so the wave looked as though it would completely cover me. I quickly gathered my camera equipment, left the hide and groundsheet, and ran to the higher ground behind me. The hide and groundsheet were a filthy mess, but all I lost was a single glove.

From the same spot I got images of Little Egret, and later in the day I watched a Kingfisher fishing in the pool close to the carpark.

The images below were taken at the Conwy RSPB reserve.
