Grasshopper Warbler
Locustella naevia
I heard the very distinctive call of the Grasshopper Warbler when walking along the old Runcorn and Latchford Canal to the east of Moore Nature Reserve. I set up my smaller hide and waited, eventually managing to get a few pictures.
It isn’t always easy to identify warblers, or little-brown-jobs (LBJs) as they’re sometimes called, but the call of this bird is unmistakeable. The broad tail in the first image is also a big clue.
