Lapwing
Vanellus vanellus
Very common in my teenage years, this is another bird that is now on the decline and on the Red List. I grew up at the edge of a village close to farmlands, and they were a very common sight and sound, wavering above the fields. We always called them peewits
The first were taken at Martin Mere Wetland Centre, and the others at Conwy RSPB. I’m not overly happy with my Lapwing pictures – would like to so a bit better.
